Best of Show Sept 2011

I was so excited to see that I had won 1st place for all the paintings I entered into the Klamath Falls Fair this year. The best being my Best of Show for the train painting seen behind me in the photo. It was worth all the hours I spent on this painting.

Moving right along with the train. Taking my time to get the details right.

Now I am working on the train and I am trying to put in as much detail as possible.

Railroad Park

Last year I stopped at the exit for Railroad Park and took this photo. I did some experimenting on the background using black gesso and a papertowel to block in the trees. Then working forward I added different layers of green to create the trees. Having fun with this one. 20x24 oil painting, week 3.

This painting is coming along nicely. Need to do a little more detail on the tail and the rock and it'll be a finished painting.

Here is the quail that I took a picture of at Tulelake area. I am painting him for the bird show in 2011.
