Looks like I will be starting a new painting real soon. This one is just about finished. Give me some feed back friends and family.

This is week 3 update on my Mt. Lake painting.

Mountain Lake

Here is a new painting that I am doing for my son-in-law as a birthday surprise. He saw a place in the mountains behind our property and asked me to paint it for him last Thanksgiving.

And there it is, the finished painting of Reme. Need to try and take a better photo of the painting and post it again. (unframed 9x12 oil painting)

Girl in a Turban by Vermeer

Well I did it. Finished and framed. What do you all think?

Girl with a Turban

I always wanted to paint one of the old masterpieces to see if I could recreate it's beauty. I chose one by Vermeer called "Girl in the Turban" from the 17th Century. It was sold in 1882 and that collector donated it to the Mauritshuis museum in The Hague, Netherlands. It is amazing to see my painting come to life.
Vermeer was born in Delft in 1632 and died in 1675 at age 43. It took 200 years for his paintings to be recognized as ranking among the great masterpieces.

We are adding depth by adding more dark washes around each new leaf.

The Thursday group at the Klamath Art Gallery have started a new watercolor class under the instruction on Sandy. It is quite enjoyable as she has the attitude that our art should be fun. No, I am not changing my medium, just experimenting and having fun. Enjoy!

Added in lots of burnt trees and shrubs. This is taking longer than I thought but it will be worth it to see the final product.

This week I started working on the flowers and bushes in the foreground. As I move forward and add the brillant yellow flowers it seems to be coming alive. Let me know what you think...
